Fat Capsule is the current project of Alexis Ramirez, a longtime Austin-based producer and multi-instrumentalist crafting immersive, atmospheric soundscapes. Ramirez arrived in Austin in 1999 to form A Tiger Named Lovesick, later joining The Arm, establishing a reputation for fusing layered guitars with driving electronics. Over the years, he’s refined a signature style rooted in hypnotic programmed beats, cinematic synths, and textural guitar work — a sound that resonates through Fat Capsule’s music.
With Fat Capsule, Ramirez channels influences ranging from shoegaze to darker ambient forms into a cohesive, emotionally charged sonic experience. The upcoming album, Apparitions of the Living, pushes further into expansive, dreamlike territory, designed to reward close listening while standing strong in a live setting.
